Organized events to promote and foster the realm of Geotechnical Engineering among the students like -

Site visit to Haflong (a hill station in Assam) in order to study the geotechnical issues faced by the engineers in the construction of the stretch of NH-27 (Porbandar – Silchar Mahasadak, East-West Corridor) between Lumding and Silchar. The construction of the highway started in 2004, still not completed due to the extreme terrain in the region. During the monsoon every year, some stretch of the highway between Silchar and Lumding either sinks or washes away due to landslides. The soil is of a peculiar blackish type of shale which “melts” when in contact with water.
Site visit to P.V.D. installation at NH 37 near Srikona, Assam, where a M.S.E. approach road is to be constructed.
